How Do I Clear Latched Faults for Fire Recall, EMS, etc.
Procedure
Verify all required inputs are connected.
Put Dip Switch 1 = ON.
Press the RESET button on the SRU board.
After pressing RESET, turn Dip Switch 1 = OFF.
F71: Speed Deviation Error (Traction)
Symptom
The detected car speed is different from the expected value.
Causes & Remedies
Check proper connection of DP1 and DP2 signals.
Verify that the DP1 and DP2 inputs on the CT SRU toggle rapidly back & forth as the car moves.
On IP8300 systems, verify the CAT5 cable between the IP8300 breakout board and selector head is fully connected; reseat if needed.
Ensure the cable is a standard CAT5 cable (no crossover).
F148: Brake Pick Switch (BPS) Fault
Symptom
Brake failed to lift when commanded.
Cause & Remedy
The controller monitors mechanical brake status.
Check that the brake lifts at the appropriate time.
Confirm brake inputs are registering correctly.
Verify if other faults occurred simultaneously that may cause the brake pick error.
F100: CN0 — No Communication with Cartop
Symptom
Loss of communication between Machine Room and Cartop.
Causes & Remedies
Ensure CN+/CN- wires in the traveling cable are properly connected.
Verify Machine Room REF → Cartop REF connection.
Ensure the shield on the communication cable is tied to REF at both ends.
Confirm cat5 cables are properly oriented (Net → Net, N → N, GND → GND).
Test communication with DEBUG → COMM STATUS; should normally remain at 100%.
If fault persists after cable checks, test by connecting MR and CT SRU boards directly (power + CN signals).
Door Operations — Proper Flagging for Door Signals
Steps
Navigate to STATUS → Car Door Data.
The indicator flags show input/output states:
GSW — Gate Switch is made (door closed)
DCL — Door Closed Limit
DOL — Door Open Limit
DO/DC — Door Open/Close outputs
ND — Nudge output
DCB/DOB — Door Close/Open Buttons
PHE — Photo-eye safety edge
SE — Mechanical safety edge
(Flag indicator appears as text if active; dots if inactive.)
Movement Issues — Hydro: Car is Not Moving (Safety String)
Check
The safety string supplies voltage to valve coils.
If the safety string is open, the controller may command motion but valves won’t activate → car won’t move → fault.
Test: Check I/O 601 and 604/605 on output signals during run command.
If outputs are present but valves don’t activate, inspect the safety string wiring and jumpers.
Movement Issues — Car Running Backwards (Traction)
Fix
On Magnetek keypad:
Press Right Arrow → until Configure C0 appears.
Press Down Arrow → User Switches C1.
Press Enter.
Navigate to Motor Rotation.
Press Enter, then Up Arrow to toggle between Forward and Reverse.
Press Enter to save.
Chimes & Signals — Double Chime on Down Arrival
Enable Double Chime
Go to Main Menu → Debug → Binary Parameters.
Set parameter 00-109.5 for double chime output on down arrival.
Construction Mode — Why Can’t I Run Construction Mode (Jumping Details)
Explanation
Construction mode bypasses most common I/Os on the Machine Room SRU board.
If additional I/Os are generating faults, extra jumpers may be required before the controller will run in construction mode.
Refer to the job drawings or the SRU I/O sheet for the exact jumper requirements and I/O locations.
